Roterfaden A4 Portfolio Setup — I’ve been searching for a functional A4 Portfolio setup for quite some time, and the recycled leather A4 Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter might just be it. This particular model has a stiffer cover, and it actually offers enough support for lap writing.

Planner for 2024 (via Stationery Pizza). It’s Planner Month (or “Months”) again as we barrel towards 2024!
Too Many Options: Planners and Life (via A Fleeting Ripple). There are far too many planner options out there for me to make sense of them, but if I had to pick one for next year, I would go with one of the Hobonichis.
Early Thoughts on the Jinhao Dadao No. 9019 Fountain Pen (via Fountain Pen Blog). So I had the opportunity to see one of these in person at the D.C. Pen Show this year, and came away impressed! The threaded, high-capacity converter is a major bonus.
Johnny.Decimal and Me: Why I Use a Formal Digital Filing System Instead of Relying on Search (via Analog Office). I love that there are other members of the club for those who can’t stand the “tag jumble” search-based systems of filing. Foldering and numbering forever.
Waterman Kultur Fountain Pen (via Blake’s Broadcast). The Kultur is the successor to the beloved Phileas, which was unfortunately discontinued. Is it available in the states again?
Notebooks: They Make You Feel Light (via Pen Picture). Attending a talk, lecture, or even listening to a podcast with just a notebook and a pen in hand? It can definitely feel liberating.
Edison Collier Garolite LE Review (via SBRE Brown). I almost picked one of these up, but ended up going with a couple of Micarta pens instead. I still might try to get one? I need to add a Collier to my collection!
Waldmann Xetra Vienna (via Mountain of Ink). I missed out on Waldmann’s Master Engraver at the San Francisco Pen Show, but many people picked up personalized pens in this model.
Ajoto Pocket Paper Notebook (via The Pencilcase Blog). Penmakers Ajoto embarked on an extended project developing a premium paper notebook. Check out this review of the final product!

The main announcement this week was Friday’s launch of our partnership with Roterfaden! We are now officially Roterfaden retailers, and currently offer a selection of Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter organizers and notebooks. The beauty of the Taschenbegleiter (which roughly translates to “pocket companion”) is that it’s a notebook system without really being a system - these organizers/portfolios sized A6 through A4 fit a wide variety of standard-sized notebooks and writing pads from many different brands, making them a versatile addition to any work or stationery lineup. 2023 SF Pen Show - The Funnest Pen Show, aka Not a Quick Recap (via Pen Addict - Kimberly). Wow, this was an EXTREMELY comprehensive from someone who is probably the most qualified SF Pen Show tour guide in history.

A New Notebook Is a Decision Prompter (via mnmlscholar). The process of deciding how to use a new notebook is always interesting. Personally, I’m close to finishing several, so I’ll have some decisions to make soon…

Rohrer & Klingner Solferino (via Fountain Pen Pharmacist). Rohrer and Klingner inks seem to have fallen by the wayside lately and off the radar of the fountain pen community, even though they offer a massive selection of colors and are quite reliable.

DC Pen Show 2023 - A Return to Form (via The Looped Square). Joseph is back on the blog for his annual recap of the 2023 D.C. Pen Show, which was, indeed, a return to form.
2023 DC Pen Show - A Really Quick Recap (via Pen Addict - Kimberly). A very thorough recap of Kimberly’s relatively quick trip to the DC Pen Show, and hopefully we’ll see more of her in San Francisco.
2023 DC Pen Show, Part I and Part II (via Rachel’s Reflections). I fully agree with Rachel that aisle design needs to be reworked for future shows.
Can You Have Too Many Refillable Notebooks? (via Notebook Stories). On a certain level - as with anything - the answer is probably “yes,” but refillable notebooks can also be repurposed, and if you’re a simultaneous-multiple-notebook user like me, it also aids in the curation and archiving because certain systems allow you to save individual pages.
Shibui North Copper Pocket Pen (via Dapprman). I had several different people approach me in D.C. asking where the Shibui North table was, and I was also looking forward to checking these pens out in person. Unfortunately I don’t think they made the show.
Pen Shopping at Appelboom Boston (via Line Variation). A great post that provides an exceptionally good narrative of what it’s like shopping in person at a pen store - a quieter, more focused experience compared to the oft-chaotic environment of shows.
Journaling Series: Journaling to Work Out Choices (via Writing at Large). Another excellent installment in the Journaling Series.
Studio Neat Mark One Review (via The Poor Penman). It’s great to see a Mark One review; I’ve been eyeing one of the special editions but haven’t jumped on it (yet).

Loclen Electa in Raw Brass (via KraftyCats). Loclen has seemingly disappeared from the scene here in the U.S. after popping up pre-Pandemic. I was never able to get my hands on one of these pens for an extended run.
Early Thoughts on the Sheaffer Icon, Lustrous Chrome Fountain Pen (via Fountain Pen Blog). I’ve not seen this Sheaffer model before - to be honest, I’ve not heard much from the brand at all in recent years.
PenLux Mo Inks (via Well-Appointed Desk). Anytime I see vintage-inspired colors, I can’t help myself. I’m really glad I missed these in D.C.
Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black Returns to North America (via Pelikan’s Perch). BUT WILL IT HAVE THE FORMALDEHYDE SMELL?!?! I sure hope so. Ah, nostalgia.
